Lithuania will receive American-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles with a range of 300 kilometers. This was announced by the country’s Minister of Defense Arvydas Anusauskas on Facebook on Thursday, November 10.
“Among the HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems purchased from the US are ATACMS operational tactical missiles, which can hit targets at a distance of 300 kilometers,” he wrote.
According to the head of the defense department, these weapons, which were not in Lithuania before, will allow to bring the response capabilities of the units to a higher level.
Earlier on Thursday, it became known that the US State Department approved the possible sale of HIMARS MLRS and related equipment to Lithuania for $495 million. The Lithuanian side requested the sale of eight installations, as well as some different ammunition for them.
It was also reported that the US State Department approved the sale of six HIMARS systems to Estonia. The delivery includes ATACMS operational-tactical missiles.
