The UK has trained over 7,400 recruits and over 60 junior commanders of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The UK has provided around a thousand additional surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine to counter the Russian threat to Ukrainian infrastructure. On Wednesday, November 9, the British government website reported.
It was noted that the transfer of additional weapons was announced by Defense Minister Ben Wallace during a visit to training sites of Ukrainian military personnel in the UK.
“The UK is transferring anti-aircraft missiles in response to Ukraine’s request to strengthen its air defense capabilities and protect its critical infrastructure, which is under constant attack from Russia,” he said.
According to him, the transferred anti-aircraft systems, consisting of launchers and missiles, can be used in conjunction with the existing capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and are capable of shooting down air targets such as Russian drones and cruise missiles.
“The commitment to provide hundreds more surface-to-air missiles is a continuation of our defense support for Ukraine against Russian aggression and will help Ukraine counter the threat of unlawful destruction of critical that’s national infrastructure,” Wallace said.
Last week it became known that about 9,000 Ukrainian recruits received more than 40 pieces of standard and winter equipment from the British army.
