At the UN General Assembly, at the initiative of Ukraine, they will consider a draft resolution on the creation of a compensation mechanism to compensate for the damage caused by Russia to Ukraine.
Next week, an emergency special session of the UN General Assembly will consider a draft resolution on establishing a mechanism to compensate Ukraine for the damage caused by the Russian war. This was announced on Tuesday, November 8, by the official representative of the Chairman of the General Assembly, Paulina Kubiak, reports Ukrinform.
According to him, the Ukrainian delegation sent a request to hold such a session to discuss the resolution “Promotion of legal protection and reparations in Ukraine.”
The document contains recognition by UN countries of the need to create a compensation mechanism to compensate for the damage caused by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, and recommendations to countries on creating a register of such damage. We are talking, in particular, about the damage caused by the property of various forms of ownership, to individuals and legal entities, to the environment, etc.
The meeting of the General Assembly will start on Monday at 10:00 (17:00 Kyiv time).
It will be recalled that last week the UN Security Council did not adopt a Russian resolution that requested an investigation into the alleged involvement of Washington and Kyiv in the implementation of biological weapons programs in Ukraine.
