Ukraine in October reduced exports by 4.6%

Ukraine’s largest trade partners are Poland, Romania, Turkey, Germany, Hungary, Spain, China, India, USA, Moldova.

The volume of Ukrainian exports in October reached 9.2 million tons, which is 4.6% less than in September. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

It was noted that the largest decrease in volumes was recorded in the mining and metallurgical industry. The export of ore decreased by 286 thousand tons compared to September (-21%). Pig iron was exported by 127 thousand tons less than in September (-63%). In absolute terms, exports of these goods: ore – 1.06 million tons, pig iron – 72.2 thousand tons. For ore, this is the lowest figure since the beginning of the year.

The top three exported grains include wheat – 1.96 million tons (+9.7%); corn – 2.2 million tons (+2.7%); rapeseed – 0.669 million tons (-23%).

As for the oil and fat industry in October, the export of sunflower seeds increased by 71.1% – up to 308 thousand tons, oil exports decreased by 10.3% – up to 454 thousand tons; the amount of exported food increased by 9.8% to 390 thousand tons.

Sunflower oil remained the leader in terms of revenue – $502 million. But it is 14.9% less than in September.

It was also reported that despite a nominal increase in corn exports in monetary terms, a fall of 2% to $465 million was recorded.

According to Deputy Economy Minister Taras Kachka, the total value of Ukrainian exports reached $3.8 billion. This is 8.2% less than in September.

“Add to this both a decrease in exports and a decrease in world prices for food and industrial products. Currently, we are seeing a decrease in metallurgy.” However, everything is more or less stable for farmers,” he said.

According to the Ministry of Economy, out of $3.8 billion in exports, the EU accounts for $2.5 billion.

Ukraine’s largest trade partners are Poland ($560 million), Romania ($412 million), Turkey ($234 million), Germany ($233 million), Hungary ($187 million), Spain ($186 million). USD), China (USD 152 million), India (USD 112 million), USA (USD 76 million), Moldova (USD 76 million).

According to the ministry, Ukrainian imports grew by 2.6% in October to $4.6 billion. At the same time, volumes decreased by 3.1% – up to 2.01 million tons. Oil products remain the leading import, accounting for 25% of volume and 16% of cost.

“In total, according to the results of 10 months, the total trade turnover reached 80.3 billion dollars, of which 36.9 billion were exports and 43.4 billion were imports. Compared to 10 months of 2021, it was, respectively , a decrease in exports by 32.3%, and imports – by 23.9%,” the report said.

It will be recalled that in October the total volume of shipments of agricultural products on all routes reached 6.9 million tons.

It was also reported that in the nine months of 2022, exports to the CIS countries decreased by 23.8% compared to the same period last year.
