It is important to try at least to reduce the dynamics of consumer price growth to an acceptable pace, believes the head of the IMF.
Global consumer price growth may be near its highest point in the current period. This was announced on Monday, November 7, by Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, to reporters as part of the UN’s annual summit on climate change, Bloomberg wrote.
“I will not be ahead of the data, but it is possible that we have peaked. Now we see that only the central banks are fighting inflation, this is the main priority and rightly so. If it does not succeed, everything will break the anchor, and then the foundation of growth, which is price stability, will explode,” the head of the IMF said, referring to data released the day before October inflation in the United States, close to 8%.
Georgieva added that central bank officials will continue to try to reduce consumer price growth to more acceptable rates.
“Inflation will be more difficult to bring down to the desired level of around 2%,” Georieva acknowledged.
“If we see diversification of supply chains, this will certainly put some pressure on prices,” the IMF chief added.
It will be remembered that the new mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Ukraine will begin on November 11. According to preliminary information, it will last until November 17.
