Moldovan journalists learned that the former head of the country receives a salary of 10 thousand euros per month from the Russian Federation.
The former president of Moldova, Igor Dodon, after being removed from power, switched to the “maintenance” of the Kremlin oligarchs. This is confirmed by the journalistic investigation data of the organization RISE Moldova.
Dodona now has its own non-governmental organization, the Moldovan-Russian Business Union. The politician approved his salary, which was ten times higher than his presidential salary.
The total annual salary of the former president of Moldova for 2022 is planned to be 1.6 million lei. Including the bonus, he receives 202,000 lei per month (more than 10,000 euros) per month. The funds for such a salary for Dodon came from Russia.
RISE Moldova journalists, together with the Russian Dossier Center, discovered six bank payments from the Russian Federation to the account of Dodon’s organization for about 5 million lei, which is equivalent to about 264,000 dollars.
All the tranches were accompanied by anti-Western or pro-Russian statements by the former leader of Moldova and his associates.
The money comes from the Russian organization Delovaya Rossiya. It was financed by Russian citizen Igor Chaika, the son of the former Prosecutor General and Dodon’s business partner.
The US believes that the Kremlin and related Moldovan politicians are using “Chaika’s companies as a front to pump money into Moldovan political parties that cooperate with him.” Washington also believes that “some of the illegal campaign funds were intended for bribes and election fraud” in Moldova.
Igor Dodon is the leader of the Party of Socialists, which periodically holds anti-government rallies in Moldova.
Recall that in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau, on November 6, another large-scale anti-government rally was held, organized by the populist pro-Russian party Shor.
