The destruction of ballistic missiles at their launch site is the best solution to the problem, believes Yuri Ignat.
Ukraine, together with partners, is working to find a counter to a new threat: Iranian ballistic missiles, which Russia can acquire. The best solution to this problem is to destroy the missiles at their launch site. This is what the speaker of the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat said in a briefing on Monday, November 7.
“In principle, nothing new is being done for Ukraine (Iranian missiles – ed.), because there are Iskanders that have been used by Russia since the first day of the war, and this is also ballistics. But this is a new threat, as also Shahed. Ballistic missiles need to react, it is necessary to destroy where, perhaps, where they are launched, because we have no effective means of combating ballistics, except physical destruction at the launch stage. So, I think that the top leadership of the military and our partners are already working on this issue, looking for effective ways to fight these new threats,” he said.
According to him, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has more information about the situation with the transfer of Iranian missiles to the Russian Federation. In particular, international partners also share information with Ukrainian intelligence.
“There is no information about Iranian missiles that could possibly be transferred to Russia about how accurate these weapons are. Iran made them recently, in the 2000s. These are still Soviet-era developments received of Iran from Russia and somewhat modernized … There is no information yet about the accuracy and effectiveness of these missiles. I hope this weapon is not too scary. But there is a threat, and it needs to be countered,” summed up Ignat .
As you know, the media said that Iran plans to send almost a thousand additional weapons to Russia. In particular, we are talking about ballistic missiles.
However, the Pentagon has not yet confirmed the data that Iran will provide Russia with short-range ballistic missiles.
