In northwestern Syria, Russian aircraft bombed camps near the city of Idlib on Sunday, November 6, killing at least nine civilians, Reuters reports.
Warplanes flying at high altitude, backed by Syrian army artillery, also dropped bombs on forests near camps in western Idlib, witnesses said.
The opposition’s Civil Defense Service said the strikes were targeting overcrowded camps. Among the dead were three children and a woman, more than 70 people were injured and taken to field hospitals.
“There is no military base, no warehouse, no rebel barracks. Only civilians,” said the rescuer.
More than four million people live in the densely populated opposition-held northwest along the border with Turkey. Most of them were driven there by successive campaigns led by the Russians, who returned territories captured by the rebels.
Earlier, the media reported that the Russian Federation transferred the S-300 and more than a thousand military personnel from Syria to Ukraine.
