Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he spoke with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
“We discussed macro-financial assistance to Ukraine for the current and next year. In addition, we discussed the importance of continuing the grain initiative for world food security,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
The parties also discussed the need to strengthen sanctions and counter the actions of Iran, which supports aggression against Ukraine.

The aid program funds the Ukrainian budget in the amount of up to 1.5 billion euros per month, which is up to 18 billion euros in total. The two leaders recognized the importance of ensuring predictable and regular funding for key state functions. Support in the form of concessional long-term interest-covered loans will also support Ukraine’s reforms and its path to EU membership.
President von der Leyen confirmed that the EU continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, especially in winter.
