Moscow got the impression that the Ukrainian side did not need negotiations and they “resigned themselves to their fate.”
The head of the Russian negotiating group Vladimir Medinsky confirmed that on Friday, April 22, several lengthy talks took place between him and the head of the Ukrainian delegation David Arahamia. He wrote about it on his Telegram channel.
Medinsky did not report on their content and results.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that negotiations with Ukraine were progressing slowly. At the same time, according to him, “the statements of the Ukrainian side give the impression that the Kiev authorities do not need negotiations with the Russian Federation and they have resigned themselves to their fate.”
Lavrov also added that Russia is not against countries offered by Ukraine as guarantees of its security, “if it does not create a threat to the Russian Federation.”
Recall that earlier in the Kremlin they said that Russia provided Ukraine with a draft document of the agreement and awaits a response.
