The company’s planes will not be in Chisinau overnight, and some flights will also be canceled.
Wizz Air will close its Chisinau base on December 1 due to the war in Ukraine. On Friday, October 28, Pro TV reports in connection with the airline’s press service.
This decision was made by the management of Wizz Air due to the Russian missiles launched towards Ukraine, which recently flew into the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.
At the same time, it was specified that Wizz Air does not stop flights to Moldova. Only the base of operations will change.
“After a thorough risk assessment and consideration of the risks of closing the airspace in the Republic of Moldova, we have adjusted our winter program for 2022-2023 from Chisinau to ensure its continued performance. To reduce the overall disruption for our Moldovan customers, we will change the operation of most of our flights to Chisinau from bases in other cities of the Wizz Air network from December 1, 2022,” the company said in a press release .
It is reported that until November 30, 2022, Wizz Air will continue to operate flights from Chisinau to Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.
From December 1, 2022, Wizz Air will operate flights to Chisinau from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. Flights from Chisinau to Paris Beauvais, Brussels Charleroi, Basel-Mulhouse and Turin will be suspended.
It should be remembered that three Russian cruise missiles were spotted on Monday morning, October 10, in the airspace of Moldova.
