The statements of the Russian president remove the legal fact that the Russian Federation recognizes the sovereignty of Ukraine and that the Ukrainian people exist as a separate nation.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin continues to reject the idea of Ukrainian sovereignty, which is incompatible with negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, and also aims to destroy the Ukrainian state. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
In the plenary session of the 19th meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, Putin said that “the only real guarantee of Ukrainian sovereignty” can only be Russia, which “created” Ukraine. His statements negate the legal fact that the Russian Federation recognizes the sovereignty of Ukraine and that the Ukrainian people exist as a separate nation, analysts say.
Putin’s continuation of the narrative that “Ukraine and Russia are a single people, divided into different states by arbitrary historical events” testifies to his continued intent to destroy the Ukrainian state and erase the concept of the Ukrainian people, added experts at the Institute.
Remember, Putin said that Ukraine “has historically developed as an artificial state.”
Also in recent years, Putin never gets tired of repeating that Vladimir Lenin created Ukraine.
