The Europeans need to resolve the issue of immunities and defend themselves against counterclaims, the diplomat said.
European countries cannot seize Russian assets in the European Union due to the lack of legal basis for such actions. This is what Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on the air of the telethon.

}

According to the minister, there is progress on this issue, but not as much as it should be.
“They (the Europeans – ed.) have an objective obstacle. In the beginning, they have mechanisms for seizing and freezing assets, but there is no legal mechanism for confiscating assets . It’s certain legal standards are needed, and it’s a very sensitive topic, because the issue of immunities needs to be resolved, you need to protect yourself from counterclaims,” explained Kuleba.
At the same time, the diplomat emphasized that the development of the relevant standards is really intensive work, but, according to the Foreign Minister, it can be done faster.
Recall that earlier the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the EU intends not to freeze, but to confiscate Russian assets in Europe.
