During a visit to the Chernihiv region, the President of Germany had to spend some time in hiding.
After a visit to Ukraine, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said in an interview with Tagesschau that “everything is more terrible” there than people in Germany think.
Because of the air raid, Steinmeier had to spend almost two hours in a shelter in the Chernihiv region.
“Everything is scarier than we imagine in Germany. I was surprised by the stories we were told,” he said.
He noted that “everyone who can think and sympathize wants the conflict in Ukraine to stop.”
According to Steinmeier, “the world must be just”.
“This means that the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine must be preserved. Now we are not at that stage,” he said.
Recall that during his visit to Ukraine, Steinmeier confirmed the future delivery of new groups of German weapons.
