Ukraine already has an air defense system that can shoot down everything in the sky – from drones to ballistic missiles and fighter jets.
The United States delivered the first two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, which will help strengthen air defense. This was announced on Tuesday, October 25, by Greg Hayes, CEO of Raytheon Technologies, an air defense manufacturer, in an interview, writes Defense News.
“We have just delivered two NASAMS complexes. We gave the two complexes to the US government a few weeks ago. They have been deployed in Ukraine today,” said the head of the company.
“It’s a short-range air defense system and it can fire an advanced medium-range air-to-air missile and can shoot down everything in the sky from drones to ballistic missiles to fighters jet,” Hayes added.
NASAMS is a mobile anti-aircraft missile system. Its main purpose is to combat maneuvering aerodynamic targets at low and medium altitudes. Experts note that to close the sky in a city the size of Kyiv, you need two or three NASAMS or Iris-T.
Recall that earlier the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov informed that Ukrainian specialists are already being trained to work in NASAMS complexes.
