The parliamentary summit of the international Crimean platform decided to create a permanent inter-parliamentary committee. This was stated in the resolution adopted following the summit held in Croatian Zagreb on Tuesday, October 25.
According to the resolution, the committee will be able to provide expertise to national and international partners, to inform national and international platforms about the real situation in Crimea temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation.
It is also planned to develop an effective mechanism for the development of possible common positions for presentation in inter-parliamentary assemblies and preparation of common documents on security issues, human rights, cultural heritage, environmental threats caused by temporary occupation of Crimea.
The summit called on the Russian Federation to “immediately stop ongoing efforts to change the demographic structure of temporarily occupied Crimea by resettling Russian citizens.”
In addition, the resolution specifies additional political, diplomatic, humanitarian, financial and other support for Ukraine as a victim of Russian aggression.
“The participants declare that they intend to … cooperate with international parliamentary assemblies, such as the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe, the OSCE, NATO, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and the Arab Parliament, with aimed at adopting decisions aimed at de-occupying Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and also restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the document said.
Recall that at the summit, President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke online, stating that the return of the Ukrainian flag to Crimea would mean the arrival of “normalities” common to Europe on the peninsula.
