In recent weeks, several Russian citizens with drones have been arrested and detained in Norway.
In the Norwegian region of Nordland, two Russians were detained, suspected of filming military installations. This was reported by the TV channel TV2.
“Police in Nordland can confirm that two Russian citizens were arrested in the north of the county on Saturday, October 22. They were charged with illegal photography and will be taken into custody today, Monday. The case will be transferred to PST, and more further investigation the case will be dealt with by the PST,” Steffen Ravnosen, a police lawyer and head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Northern Nordland, told TV 2.
Several Russian citizens with drones have reportedly been arrested and detained in Norway in recent weeks. Due to sanctions against Russia, Russian citizens are prohibited from operating drones on Norwegian territory. Due to the suspicious drone, Bergen Airport was closed for several hours.
The latest arrests were made in northern Norway. In all cases, the defendants deny culpability of the crime.
