This act of terrorism could lead to many thousands of victims and flooding of dozens of settlements in the Kherson region.
Ukraine has called for the organization of an international mission to monitor the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal at a government meeting on Friday, October 21.
He recalled that according to Ukrainian data, the aggressor was preparing another terrorist attack on the territory of the Kherson region. The Russians mined the dam and units of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
“This terrorist attack could lead to many thousands of victims and the flooding of dozens of settlements. Therefore, we appeal to the UN, EU and other organizations to organize an international monitoring mission at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. International specialists should immediately arrive at the station along with Ukrainian personnel,” Shmyhal said.
He again called on residents of the occupied territory of the Kherson region and other regions to immediately leave for the unoccupied territories of Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russians have long planned to destroy the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station – the main mining work was carried out in April. And this week, further mining of locks and pillars of the hydroelectric power station was carried out.
In this regard, the occupiers said that Ukraine was allegedly preparing a “strike on the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station” and announced an emergency “evacuation” of residents.
