Ukraine has at least three sources of funding for satellite communications: funds from a support package from the Pentagon, from Europe, or from private donors.
Ukraine should not have problems servicing StarLink satellite communication terminal, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov believes, on Thursday, October 20, writes Politico.
He said that Kyiv contacted Elon Musk to find a way out of the payment terminal situation, which has an important role on the battlefield for Ukrainian forces.
In particular, Oleksiy Reznikov said that the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov contacted Musk.
“He is responsible for digitalization and has a direct relationship with Elon Musk. They have personal communication and Mikhail assessed the situation very positively during their last discussion on this issue,” said Reznikov.
Reznikov added that if the money issue comes up again, then Kyiv “has at least three sources: funds from the support package from the Pentagon, from Europe, or from private donors.”
“Regardless of the funding, Ukraine will continue to communicate at a technical level with Elon Musk’s company,” the minister stressed.
It should be noted that SpaceX loses up to $20 million per month servicing Starlink Internet terminals in Ukraine.
Remember, on October 14, Musk announced that he had decided to refuse to finance Starlink in Ukraine, but changed his mind the next day.
