The Russian Federation is probably preparing to blow up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
The goal of the aggressor country is to stop the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and block the retreat of the occupying forces from the southern region. On October 20, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak wrote about this on Twitter.
According to him, Moscow’s real plan for the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant provides not only an attempt to stop the offensive of the Ukrainian military, but also the flooding of the territories. In addition, the invaders want to forcibly take out the Ukrainians – to resettle in Russia the population disloyal to the Putin regime.
Russia is preparing a man-made disaster, Podolyak wrote.
Earlier, the commander of the occupying forces in Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin, said that the Kremlin must make “difficult decisions” in the Kherson region.
Recall, on October 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Russian military had mined the dam and units of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station and were planning a terrorist attack in order to blame Ukraine for this.
The dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP contains volumes of about 18 million cubic meters. m of water, and its undermining will lead to an extensive catastrophe, about 80 settlements, including Kherson, will be in the flood zone. In addition, the occupied Crimea will be left without water, just like the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which uses water to cool its reactors.
