A senior Iranian diplomat has denied that Tehran plans to send missiles to Russia for use in the war in Ukraine. This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda in connection with AFP.
“In a telephone conversation with (head of European diplomacy) Josep Borrell, I told him that our policy … is that we are against the war and its escalation in Ukraine. The accusation of sending the Iranians missiles to Russia for use against Ukraine is not unfounded,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. .
He also said that Iran has defense cooperation with Russia, but it is certainly not their policy to send weapons and drones against Ukraine.
Earlier, several media outlets reported that Iran had promised to provide Russia with surface-to-surface missiles in addition to more drones.
