The US Secretary of State noted that the Russian president uses irrational decisions and actions.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not interested in a diplomatic solution to the war in Ukraine. Blinken said this in an interview with ABC News.
“Our goal is simple – to support the Ukrainians to ensure that their country remains independent and, ultimately, to ensure the strongest position in the negotiations if they begin,” – US Secretary of State.
According to him, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is looking for diplomacy, but not with the current President of the Russian Federation.
“Zelensky has made it clear that at some point diplomacy has to end it. But what we see right now is Putin’s lack of interest in meaningful diplomacy,” Blinken said.
He noted that the Russian president uses irrational decisions and actions.
“It is difficult to imagine yourself in the mind of another person. I think he is rational, but the decisions he makes, or rather his goals, are not rational,” said the Secretary of State of the United States.
Earlier, the media wrote that the White House is trying to exclude a direct meeting between Biden and Putin at the G-20.
