The Ukrainian prime minister and the American president discussed the expansion of financial and military aid, the strengthening of sanctions against the Russian Federation and the unification of the international anti-Putin coalition.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with US President Joe Biden in Washington during his visit to the United States. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers on Thursday, April 21.
The head of government thanked Biden on behalf of all Ukrainians for the tremendous support from the US Presidential Administration. In particular, for the announcement of the provision of a new large-scale package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $ 800 million and $ 500 million in direct economic assistance.
“For Ukraine’s success in promoting independence and in the common values of the democratic world, more US leadership is needed in arms supply, expanding financial aid and strengthening sanctions against Russia. This is the only way to force it. the Kremlin to end the war, ”Denis Shmihal said.
He told Biden about the crimes of the occupiers on the territory of Ukraine, about the many casualties and significant losses, about the destroyed civilian infrastructure.
“We appreciate your firm position to call these actions genocide. We look forward to the joint efforts of the international community to bring the perpetrators and perpetrators of crimes to justice,” the prime minister stressed.
The parties raised the issue of strengthening the pressure of sanctions on Russia. The head of government noted that Ukraine highly values the role of the US leadership in coordinating the efforts of partners in the matter of uniform introduction of comprehensive sanctions to stop the aggressive policy of the Kremlin.
Denis Shmihal stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainians have shown that they will not give up and they can win. At this pivotal moment, the US leadership is critical, he said.
During the meeting, the US President was given a Ukrainian flag signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and a stamp stating the direction of the Russian warship.
