Sanctions were imposed against some officials for human rights violations and destabilization of regional security. This is the third package of sanctions in a month.
The Canadian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, October 19, announced the imposition of sanctions against Iranian officials and institutions involved in human rights violations, propaganda and destabilization of regional security.
“The new sanctions list includes six individuals and four legal entities … They participated or contributed to gross human rights violations, including against Iranian women, and also spread propaganda to justify the Iranian regime’s harassment and persecution of its own citizens,” read the statement.message.
The ministry emphasized that the actions of the Iranian regime showed a clear disregard for life and human rights.
“Canada is determined to continue imposing sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for serious and systematic human rights violations in Iran,” the Foreign Ministry assured.
All assets and funds of sanctioned persons in Canada are frozen, and they themselves are prohibited from entering the country.
By the way, Canada is expanding sanctions against Iran for the third time this month. In early October, 25 individuals and nine legal entities were added to the sanctions list, and last week another 17 legal entities and three individuals were added.
In total, Canadian sanctions are in effect against more than 260 entities and individuals from Iran. In 2012, Canada recognized it as a state sponsor of terrorism and cut diplomatic ties.
It was previously reported that the United States will impose sanctions against Iran for the transfer of kamikaze drones to the Russian Federation.
The EU also approved sanctions against Iran for the supply of drones to the Russian Federation. They will be introduced against the kamikaze drone manufacturer and Iran’s military command.
