Alisher Usmanov unsuccessfully tried to prove that these eggs were souvenirs for his friends in Uzbekistan.
One of the richest Russians, oligarch Alisher Usmanov, lost four Faberge eggs found in a search of his villas on Lake Tegernsee in Germany. Bild reported this on Tuesday, October 18.
It is indicated that the oligarch, whose fortune exceeds $14 billion, tried to prove that these eggs were souvenirs for his friends in Uzbekistan. But the jewels found were originally from the time of Tsarist Russia, worth up to 50 million euros.
“The expert’s first conclusion showed that these were not tin eggs with glass stones. They were objects of significant value,” the Munich prosecutor’s office said.
A second expert report has now been ordered. The origin of the eggs, the year of production and their exact value will be determined.
According to the publication, Usmanov will no longer see these values. The oligarch should have declared them as an asset after he fell under sanctions, which he probably didn’t.
As you know, in September, German law enforcement officers conducted searches of Usmanov’s villas on Lake Tegernsee. He is suspected of tax evasion and money laundering. A total of 24 properties were searched.
And in early March, German authorities in Hamburg arrested the billionaire’s 156-meter yacht Dilbar, which he bought in 2016 for $600 million.
