The kitchen was created by World Central Kitchen, under the leadership of renowned chef Jose Andres, to establish food systems in areas of disaster and war. Andres tweeted that the NGO staff were surprised but safe.
The organization says it reaches 30 cities across the country, providing approximately 300,000 meals a day. Andres said the attack in Kharkov showed that “feeding in the midst of futile war is an act of courage, perseverance and endurance” and his team of chefs will continue cooking for Ukraine.
