ISW explained Putin’s words about the time of mobilization

The Kremlin leader confirmed that those mobilized undergo low-level training before being sent to the front line.

By announcing the likely end of mobilization “in about two weeks,” Vladimir Putin likely wants to free up bureaucratic bandwidth for the regular fall draft, which begins in Russia on November 1st. On Friday, October 14, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported.

Institute analysts indicated that, according to Putin, the partial mobilization in Russia should be completed within two weeks.

At the same time, ISW pointed out that on September 30, the head of the Kremlin informed about the postponement of the usual autumn conscription in the Russian Federation from October 1 to November 1.

“Putin probably needs to suspend or stop the” partial “mobilization to free up bureaucratic resources for conscription,” the specialists explained.

The Institute for the Study of War also said that the Russian President ordered the call-up of 120,000 people for the autumn cycle.

At the same time, speaking about the training of the mobilized, Putin agreed that they were not ready and had already been sent to the front. Thus, of the 220,000 people called up, 35,000 were in Russian military units, and 16,000 were in units “performing combat missions.”

According to him, they undergo basic training, which lasts about 10 days, then training in combat units, after which they are transferred to the front.

ISW stressed that even the 10 days of training that mobilized personnel will receive does not consist of actual combat training for most units.

Earlier, Putin said that the mobilization in the Russian Federation will be completed within two weeks.
