After Musk refused to further sponsor the work of satellites in Ukraine, the issue was taken up by the US Department of Defense.

The US Department of Defense has received an appeal from SpaceX founder Elon Musk regarding funding for the Starlink satellite communications network used in Ukraine. On Friday, October 14, the AP reported, citing an unnamed American official.

According to him, the US Department of Defense received a request from SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk to fund his Starlink satellite communications used in Ukraine.

The official noted that this issue has been discussed in meetings, and senior leaders are weighing in on this issue. No decision has been made yet.

Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said the Pentagon “has been in contact with SpaceX” about the situation with the Starlink system in Ukraine, but declined to disclose other details.

In addition, he said that the Pentagon did not exclude the possibility of cooperation between the Ukrainian military and other operators of satellite communications and the Internet.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov said that the Starlink terminals are working and will work in the future.

“Starlink terminals work, work and work. Don’t worry,” Fedorov wrote on Telegram.

To recall, today it was reported that Musk decided to refuse to finance Starlink in Ukraine.

OP said that Kyiv will find a way to continue the operation of Starlink terminals, despite Musk’s refusal.
