Ukraine’s Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko was unanimously elected Chairman of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the IMF for 2023.

The Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko has been elected as the head of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the IMF for 2023. He announced this on Friday, October 14, on his Facebook page.

“I have been elected Chairman of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the IMF for 2023. This decision was taken unanimously by all the governing member countries of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. It happened in first time in 30 years of Ukraine’s membership in WB and IMF,” Marchenko wrote. .

He noted that reliable and transparent partnerships have been developed over this long period.

“And I sincerely thank our friends and partners for their trust. It is a great honor to represent Ukraine in the international financial arena,” said Marchenko.

He also added that the new status will increase the effectiveness of cooperation with international financial organizations and member countries of the World Bank and IMF.

It was previously reported that the World Bank improved the forecast for Ukraine from 2.1% to 3.3%.
