Ukraine’s Western partners have now resolved the issue of combating arms suppliers to the occupying country.
The US government intends to impose sanctions against countries, companies and individuals that supply the Russian Federation with ammunition or support its military-industrial complex. European foreign ministers will also discuss the transfer of Iranian drones to Russia on Monday, October 17. The foreign ministers will try to reach a political agreement on future sanctions. This was reported by Reuters news agency on Friday, October 14.
US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo at an official meeting of representatives of 32 countries, whose topic is sanctions against Russia, said that the US Treasury has prepared a document that states the mechanisms for sanctions against Russia’s military partners.
“We are ready and able to impose sanctions against individuals, companies or states that provide ammunition to Russia or support the Russian military-industrial complex,” the official said.
It should be noted that European diplomats held preparatory meetings before the ministerial meeting on Monday, October 17, in Luxembourg. During these meetings, they conducted an analysis of drone activity.
France and Germany also consider new sanctions against drones used by Russia to be necessary. These countries believe that the transfer of drones should be seen as a violation of the UN Security Council resolution on the development of nuclear weapons in Iran.
It will be recalled that France believes that the transfer of Iranian drones – kamikaze drones – to Russia is a violation of the UN Security Council resolution.
