The military aid is designed to protect the skies of Ukraine from attacks and strengthen the overall air defense.
Britain will supply Ukraine with AMRAAM medium-range missiles for the US NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system. It was reported on October 12 by the Euronews TV channel.
“Russia’s latest indiscriminate strikes against civilian areas in Ukraine require the continued support of those who seek to defend their country. Therefore, today I have authorized the supply of anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine,” said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
He added that the weapons will help Ukraine protect the skies from attack and strengthen its overall missile defense.
AMRAAM is an American guided air-to-air missile with a range of up to 25 km and a flight height of up to 16 km.
Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said Western military aid marked the beginning of a new era of air defense in the country.
