Grossi has engaged in intensive consultations with both Ukraine and Russia in recent weeks.

IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi met with Russian President Putin on October 11, after which he will meet again with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week. This was reported on the website of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

“Last week, the Director General met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv and they will meet there again later this week following today’s discussion with President Putin in St. Petersburg,” the statement said.

It was noted that Grossi in recent weeks has engaged in intensive consultations with both Ukraine and the Russian Federation to agree and introduce as soon as possible a physical and nuclear security zone around the ZNPP.

“The situation in the region around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and elsewhere is becoming increasingly dangerous, shaky and complex, with periodic military attacks that may also threaten nuclear and physical security,” said IAEA Director General.

According to him, you cannot “allow yourself to waste more time.”

“The stakes are high. We must do everything in our power to ensure that a nuclear accident does not occur during this tragedy, as it could lead to more poverty and suffering in Ukraine and beyond,” he emphasized.

Recall that at the previous meeting, Zelensky discussed security in the ZNPP with Grossi.

Earlier, the IAEA rotated the mission to the Zaporozhye NPP.
