Consumption restrictions are not related to a lack of power in the energy system, but only to the need to carry out restoration work after missile strikes.
Ukrainians are urged today from 17:00 to 23:00 to limit electricity consumption. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal wrote about this on Tuesday, October 11, in Telegram.
He noted that Russia is continuing a massive attack on energy infrastructure facilities for the second day in a row.
“Yesterday, Ukrainians across the country, responding to the call, voluntarily reduced electricity consumption by an average of 10%… Today we will also ask you to limit electricity consumption. Also, during the hours of peak, from 17:00 to 23:00, please do not turn on energy-intensive appliances : electric stoves, electric kettles, power tools, heaters and air conditioners, ovens and irons, microwave ovens, coffee makers, washing machines and dishwashers. This is critical for the stable operation of our energy system,” Shmyhal wrote.
He noted that due to the need to restore damaged critical infrastructure, a power outage schedule is being applied in some regions.
“It is important to understand that such consumption restrictions are not related to a lack of capacity in the energy system, but only to the need for job restoration. Now there is no need for emergency aid from European countries, or for the import of electricity,” Shmyhal said, adding, that such an opportunity, if necessary, exists Ukraine.
It should be noted that as a result of damage to critical infrastructure by missile attacks of Russian invaders in Kyiv and the region, emergency power outage schedules were introduced.
