Kyiv needs to provide assistance not episodically, but on an ongoing basis, believes Johannes Gan.
EU aid to Ukraine is currently far from sufficient. The Ukrainian state needs at least 3 billion euros per month. This was said by the European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Gan in a conference on Monday, October 10.
“Ukraine needs from 3 to 3.5 billion euros a month to support the functioning of the state,” said a European official.
He noted that EU countries have agreed to provide Ukraine with nine billion euros of macro-financial assistance to cover current state costs.
In particular, one billion of this amount has already been given. Additional loans totaling five billion euros should be phased in from mid-October.
According to him, it is now necessary to consider how the EU can provide assistance to Ukraine not only episodically, but also on an automatic basis.
The restoration of Ukraine in the long term will require, according to the World Bank, about 349 billion euros, the European Commissioner said.
Recall that the International Monetary Fund will provide Ukraine with an additional $1.3 billion.
In addition, by the end of the year, Ukraine expects about 16 billion dollars of international financial assistance.
