The incident was reported to the US Department of Homeland Security and Alaska Senator Sullivan.
On the American island of St. Lawrence (Alaska), two Russians from Chukotka were detained, who sailed 400 km in a boat, escaping from mobilization. Alaska News Service reported it.
It was learned that on Tuesday, October 4, the coast guard received a message about two foreigners who landed from a small boat in the village of Gambell. They managed to tell local residents that they had set sail from the village of Egvekinot in Chukotka and traveled more than 400 km by sea, because they were “running away from the Russian military.”
The incident was reported to the US Department of Homeland Security and Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan. His office said the Customs and Border Protection Service is looking into the possibility of the detainees entering the United States.
Gambell administration official Curtis Siluk said the men were removed from the island the same day. And the state’s governor, Mike Dunleavy, said the Russians were in Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage, where they were confronted by federal authorities.
Remember that Russians are fleeing the country after the announcement of partial mobilization. Social networks published photos and videos of car queues at borders in different directions.
According to intelligence, more Russians have left the Russian Federation than entered Ukraine in February.
