Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on October 4 that Moscow was angry that Vrublevsky was still in Astana and had summoned the Kazakh ambassador.
Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Aibek Smadiarov called Zakharova’s tone “discordant with the nature of allied relations between Kazakhstan and Russia as equal strategic partners.” He also added that the Russian ambassador to Kazakhstan, in turn, will be summoned to the country’s Foreign Ministry.
According to Smadiyarov, Vrublevsky will leave Kazakhstan when a new Ukrainian ambassador is appointed.
