“The diplomatic note I just signed will be handed over to the German Foreign Ministry. It expresses the Polish Foreign Ministry’s belief that the parties must take action to ensure a sustainable settlement of the reparations issue,” the minister said .
Rau noted that Poland is insisting on the settlement of “Germany’s payment of material and non-material compensation for (work-related) injury and compensation to the victims and their families.”
To recall, the Sejm of Poland on September 14 adopted a resolution calling on Germany to accept responsibility for the damage caused to Poland during World War II and to pay reparations to the Polish state.
Poland also intends to seek reparations from Russia.
