Russia was not re-elected for a new term on the governing board of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

The Russian Federation was not re-elected to the governing body of the International Civil Aviation Organization. This was reported by Reuters.

This decision is in support of Western states that want to hold Moscow responsible for the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

The International Civil Aviation Organization is a specialized UN agency that organizes and coordinates international cooperation between states in all aspects of civil aviation.

Recall that the United States imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation for the annexation of Ukrainian territories. The sanctions lists include representatives of business, the Russian military and politicians, as well as their families.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said the United States will never recognize Russia’s claims to Ukraine’s sovereign territory and will impose new sanctions against Moscow if it annexes new Ukrainian territories.
