Christine Lambrecht is sure that Kyiv has the right to join the Alliance, but this decision should be made by all NATO members.

Germany welcomes Ukraine’s decision to apply for Ukraine’s accession to NATO. However, official Berlin said that the decision on its adoption should be made by all the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance. This is what German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said during her visit to the Moldovan capital Chisinau, Tagesschau reports.

“Of course, Ukraine is free to choose the Alliance in which it is free. However, there are certain requirements for joining NATO. Now this issue will be discussed with the 30 countries of the North Atlantic Alliance,” said the official.

As you know, on Friday, September 30, Zelensky announced that Ukraine is applying for NATO membership in an accelerated manner.

We add that the White House believes that the issue of Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance should be decided “later.”
