Ukraine has promised not to use such popular Russian HIMARS for strikes on Russian territory.
The agreement between Kyiv and Washington on the non-use of American weapons for attacks on Russian territory applies only to HIMARS installations. This is what Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said in an interview with EP, published on Thursday, September 29.
At the same time, the diplomat said that there are no restrictions on the use of weapons provided by the United States to Ukraine for strikes in Crimea.
“I can clearly say that the United States has always not recognized the illegal annexation of Crimea, and from 2014 until now, it has taken a clear position that Crimea is Ukraine in all its aspects,” Markarova stressed.
It will be remembered that, as part of the new US military aid in the amount of $1.1 billion, Ukraine will receive 18 highly mobile HIMARS artillery missile systems and ammunition for them.
