The sanctions will cover all areas of Ukraine not controlled by the government, including the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
The European Union is planning to expand the scope of the sanctions implemented against the annexed Crimea to the territory of other temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine. This was announced by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, writing European Truth.
“We are expanding the geographic scope of Crimea-related restrictions in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, adopted earlier this year. They will cover all areas not controlled by the Ukrainian government, including the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhia, which do not belong to Donbass and were not part of the previous decisions,” said Borrell.
The “Crimean sanctions” announced by the European Union after the annexation of Crimea include a ban on the import of goods from the peninsula to the EU, a ban on infrastructure or financial investment and tourism services from annexed territory.
The restrictions also include the export of certain goods and technologies to Crimean companies or for use in Crimea in the transport, telecommunications and energy sectors, as well as for the exploration and production of oil, gas and mineral resources.
Earlier, the media reported that the European Commission approved a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, which includes limiting the price of Russian oil.
