No one will know if the Russian president will go for the use of nuclear weapons, the chancellor said.
Russia should forget even the thought of using nuclear weapons against Ukraine. This is what German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told the newspaper Neue Osnabrucker Zeitung.

He noted that no one can be sure whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will take such a step or not.
“Who knows? But, like US President Joe Biden, I want to turn to Russia and say very clearly: forget it!” Scholz said.
He called the Russian Federation’s decision to mobilize “an act of desperation and a panicked reaction to the failures of the Russian armed forces.”
“Putin is making mistakes after mistakes. He can immediately end this war by withdrawing his troops and then start negotiations with Kyiv,” Scholz said.
It will be recalled that on September 21, in his video message to the Russian people, Putin said that all means of destruction, including nuclear, would be used in the event of a threat to Russia’s territorial integrity and that “it is not a bluff.”
