Military units from the USA, Czech Republic, Poland, Great Britain, Lithuania and Estonia will arrive in Latvia to participate in the first phase of Namejs 2022.
On Monday, April 18, Namejs 2022 military exercises with the participation of NATO units will begin in Latvia. They will be held until May 27 in all regions of the country. This was reported by the BNS agency.
It was noted that the overall purpose of the exercises was to improve the integration of national and allied forces to solve defense problems. Military units from the USA, Czech Republic, Poland, Great Britain, Lithuania and Estonia will arrive in Latvia to participate in the first phase of Namejs 2022.
In addition to Latvian military units, training activities will be carried out by units deployed as part of NATO’s expanded combat team in Latvia and representing ten countries: Albania, Czech Republic, Italy, Iceland , Montenegro, Canada, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.
These countries will be represented in the exercises of ground mechanized units, artillery, aviation and airborne units, as well as the elements of operational planning and supply. In total, about three thousand military personnel from other countries will participate in the exercises.
It was previously reported that the ships of the 1st permanent NATO Maritime Group have entered the Baltic Sea, and will participate in exercises with neighboring allied countries and partner states.
Recall that large -scale military training began at the California National Training Center of the US Department of Defense, conducted using the scenarios of the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
