The Spanish Foreign Ministry said they are against the fact that people fleeing the Russian Federation are denied the opportunity to get an EU visa.
Russian citizens trying to leave the Russian Federation for EU countries must obtain European visas. This is what Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez said in an interview with La Razón.
“This is not a war against the Russians. And we clearly defined it from the beginning. We have nothing against the Russian people, and even more against those who protest bravely, risking imprisonment and even their lives . Those who are trying to leave the country should be given the opportunity to do so,” said the Spanish official.
He expressed the opinion that the Europeans allegedly, instead of completely removing the opportunity of Russians to obtain visas, should “leave the doors open” for issuing visas to citizens meet certain conditions.
However, the head of the Spanish Foreign Ministry added that Madrid supported Ukraine from the beginning. Solidarity with the Ukrainian people has been shown by both the country’s governments and society.
He also added that the Spanish government is transferring defensive weapons to Kyiv to protect its sovereignty.
Remember that in the Spanish Barcelona, unknown vandals painted historical monuments with the letters Z, used by the Russian army.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Defense of Spain delivered an air defense system, ammunition and armored vehicles to Ukraine at the end of the summer.
