In a speech to the nation earlier this week, Putin said his country has “various weapons of mass destruction” and “will use all available means.”
EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell believes that the threats expressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in his mobilization address should not be underestimated. This was announced on Saturday, September 24, in an interview with the BBC by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
According to him, the war has reached a “dangerous moment.”
“The Russian army is cornered and Putin’s reaction – the threat of using nuclear weapons – is very bad,” Borrell said.
He also noted that a “diplomatic solution” was needed, which would “maintain the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
“Otherwise, we can end the war, but we will not have peace, and we will have a new war,” he said.
As for Putin’s statements about a possible readiness to use nuclear weapons, the diplomat added that the dictator’s threats should be taken seriously.
“When people say it’s not a bluff, you have to take it seriously,” he concluded.
Recall that the American high military command considers the possibility of a direct nuclear conflict realistic and this requires a revision of warfare strategies.
NATO warned the Russian Federation about the consequences of using nuclear weapons.
And US President Joe Biden said that if nuclear weapons were to be used, Russia would become an even bigger outcast in the world than before.
