The Israeli government is preparing for the arrival of a new wave of repatriates – citizens of the Russian Federation who do not want to participate in the war.
Israel does not exclude the possibility of exporting from Russian citizens who have the right of repatriation and do not want to fight in Ukraine. This was reported by Israel Hayom on Thursday, September 22.
Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid asked the management of El Al airline to resume flights between the two countries. The number of flights from Russia to Israel will increase. Consultations are currently underway on this issue.
The purpose of this decision is the desire of the Israeli authorities to take Russian citizens who have the right to return to Israel and who want to avoid mobilization for the war in Ukraine.
Director General of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Alon Ushpiz, said that by order of the government, preparations have begun in the country for the arrival of a new wave of repatriates.
“Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid has tasked us with accepting new immigrants from Russia. This requires checking at many levels, from air travel to entry visas and welcoming the country. We are strictly working with other ministries, our embassy in Russia and, of course, with El-Al,” added Ushpiz.
Athletistic previously wrote that almost 20.5 thousand Jews left the Russian Federation since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
Recall that in early May of this year, a scandal erupted over the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about anti-Semitic Jews.
