On the Russian side, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, signed the document.
The aggressor country Russia and the Comoros signed a joint statement not to be the first to put weapons into outer space. TASS reported this on Monday, September 19.
From the Russian side, the document was signed by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, from the Comoros side – by the Permanent Representative to the UN Issimail Shanfi.
It is indicated that this statement was signed as part of Russia’s initiative not to be the first to put weapons in space, which has already been joined by more than 30 states.
“These steps build confidence in space cooperation. We want it to be peaceful,” Nebenzya said.
Comoros is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Africa. At the same time, the Comoros security forces consist of a small regular army and police force of 500 people, as well as 500 members of the defense forces. Comoros has only 10 aircraft and helicopters that are not intended for military purposes.
It will be remembered that in November 2021, Russia shot the Tselina-D satellite into orbit. The United States then claimed that because of the Russian tests, debris had formed in orbit, which would pose a threat to space activities for years to come.
