First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska will join 500 heads of state and distinguished guests invited to the funeral of Great Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.
Prime Minister Denys Shmygal and First Lady Olena Zelenska attended the farewell ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain at the Palace of Westminster. This was announced on Sunday, September 18, by the head of the Ukrainian government on Facebook.
“At the invitation of the British side, we came to London today to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and express condolences on behalf of the President, government and people of Ukraine,” he wrote.
Shmyhal said the queen enjoyed great public respect and favor in Britain. He was also admired far beyond the borders of the Kingdom, including Ukraine.
“Most Ukrainians will remember His Majesty because of a simple but important fact. He was the head of state, who was one of the first to help when Ukraine was faced with a barbaric invasion by Russia. A state that still does all. it is possible to bring our victory closer” wrote the prime minister.
“Grateful to the government of the United Kingdom. I have no doubt that King Charles III will build on the progress made by his mother. God save the King!” Shmyhal added.
Also, British media reported that the Princess of Wales met with Elena Zelenskaya on the eve of the Queen’s funeral. Kate held an audience at Buckingham Palace.

Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral will take place on Monday, September 19. Almost a million people are expected to come to London to honor the monarch.
It was previously reported that the queue has reached more than six kilometers in length to pay tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
