The UN should gain access to the grave site as soon as possible to conduct an investigation, Lambrecht said.
German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht called for an investigation into possible war crimes amid reports of mass graves, including civilians, inside the city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region, which was liberated by Ukrainian army from occupation by the Armed Forces of Russia.

The head of the German defense department said in an interview with the Funke media group, published on Saturday, September 17, that he considers it appropriate to join the investigative activities of the UN.
“These heinous crimes must be investigated – preferably by the United Nations,” said Lambrecht, who represents Germany’s ruling Social Democratic Party.
Access to the international organization should be provided as soon as possible to ensure the safety of evidence, the minister assured.
“Those responsible for war crimes must be brought to justice,” Lambrecht summed up.
Recall that on September 16, in Izyum, they began to dig up the bodies of people killed by the Russian invaders. So far, 59 bodies have been recovered from the graves.
