Pope Francis, at the All-Night Easter Vigil, gave words of comfort to the people of Ukraine, who are suffering because of the aggression in the Russian Federation and war, and ended his sermon at the Holy Mass with words in Ukrainian. Vatican Radio reports.
On the eve of the evening service, Francis met with the Ukrainian delegation, which included representatives of the Verkhovna Rada and local authorities, including the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, who had been released from Russian captivity.
When the Pope finished his sermon and prayer at the Holy Mass on Easter Eve, he addressed the guests from Ukraine with these words:
“In this darkness in which you dwell, Mr. Mayor, gentlemen representatives, in the abyss of war and cruelty, we all pray with you and for you, tonight. We pray for the comfort of so much suffering. Share. only to you our closeness, our prayer and say: “Be steadfast! We are by your side! “. And also say about the greatest thing being celebrated today: (in Ukrainian)” Christ is Risen! “”
